The lens stays in your eye permanently, so the choice matters. A monofocal lens gives excellent distance vision, with reading glasses usually still needed. A toric lens also corrects astigmatism. No. The eye is numbed with drops or a gentle local anaesthetic, so you feel little more than mild pressure. You stay awake, and the procedure is quick and comfortable.
We operate one eye at a time and let it settle before scheduling the second, usually a few days to a couple of weeks apart. This is the safer sequence.
Light activities the next day. Reading and screens are generally fine within a day or two. Strenuous work, swimming and dusty environments wait a few weeks.
It depends on the lens. With a standard monofocal lens you will likely need reading glasses. Multifocal lenses reduce that dependence. We will set realistic expectations before surgery.
